- Year
- 1993
- Instrumentation
- for bassoon, clarinet, and piano
- Notes
- Commissioned by Wendy Holdoway, Principal Bassoon of the Mexico City Philharmonic. Cante Jondo, deep song, is a music which developed among the persecuted gypsies of 15th century Spain. The instrumental grouping presents an unusually low "center of gravity", opening the door to the warm, dark resonances of the lower spectrum.
