Notes: Commissioned by Peggy Salkind. One of a series of Quotation Works, which attempt to so abstract the materials of the quote that the entire work can be built from them without actually quoting the original until a specific moment about 2/3 of the way through the piece. The quote, in this case from Chopin's E flat minor Prelude, does not sound like one, because its abstracted essence was there from the beginning.
